Flowers for Someone in Russia: Ordering from Turkey, Delivery and Customs
A friend in Moscow, a sister in Kazan, a business partner in St Petersburg? Wherever they are, getting a bouquet to their door from Turkey takes only a few steps: you place the order here, and our local florist in Russia makes it up and hands it over in person.
When will it arrive, and where can it go?
If you order before 12:00 noon Turkey time — which is also 12:00 in Moscow — the flowers are delivered the same day. Anything ordered later arrives the next day. Keep in mind that there are no deliveries on Sundays.
Delivery covers the whole of Russia: Moscow and St Petersburg, but also Kazan, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Sochi, Krasnodar and every other city. For peak days like 8 March, order at least a week ahead.
Customs to know: odd numbers, careful with yellow
For a happy occasion in Russia, flowers are always given in odd numbers — 1, 3, 5, 7 or 11. Even numbers belong to funerals, so if you are sending loose roses, count them twice. There is also a traditional belief that yellow flowers hint at separation.
Russia's flower calendar
- 8 March, International Women's Day: by far the most flower-filled day of the year. Read more in flowers for 8 March in Russia.
- Mother's Day: the last Sunday in November.
- 1 September, Knowledge Day: children arrive at school with flowers for their teachers.
- Birthdays: congratulating someone early is thought to bring bad luck, so aim for the day itself.
Which flowers suit whom?
For a partner, roses — in an odd number, of course. Bright bouquets are lovely for mothers and teachers, while a vase arrangement fits a business contact. Browse everything on our send flowers to Russia page.
